Discovery Center hosts Books, Band and Barbeque Event today

EDGEFIELD – The Freshwater Coast Regional
Discovery Center will host a Books, Band and Barbeque event showcasing
author and renowned barbeque and grilling expert, Rick Browne today,
September 18th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at 405 Main Street. The
evening will be complete with live music and a meet and greet with the
author. Barbeque plates will be available for purchase.
Rick Browne is creator, host and executive producer of public
television’s Barbeque America, author of The Big Book of Barbeque
Sides, co-author of The Barbeque America Cookbook and also spokesman
for Cattlemen’s Barbeque Sauce, Coca Cola, and Bush’s Baked Beans.
Browne will be at the Discovery Center to sign his newly released book
The Best Barbeque on Earth. This book, which features a collection of
recipes, techniques and stories from travels to 26 countries around the
world, will be available for purchase.
There will be a live performance from Solid Ground Southern Conduct
along with the tantalizing aroma and tastes of southern barbeque.
Families should bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax and enjoy this
fine southern tradition.
Through interpretive exhibits, historical information, a gift shop of
local artists, and a rotating exhibit space, the Freshwater Coast
Regional Discovery Center shares the heritage of Abbeville, Edgefield,
Greenwood and McCormick Counties. The center is open to the public
Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is free. For
