  Edgefield tops Johnston 13-2 in Dixie Youth All Star Qualifier web posted June 29, 2010 RIDGE SPRING – The Edgefield Dixie Youth Minor League All-Star team qualified for the District Tournament Monday night with a resounding 13-2 win over Johnston. Starting pitcher, Jud Childress went the distance for Edgefield as he scattered 3 hits over 4 innings of work. Childress also struck out 5 Johnston batters while only allowing one walk. At the plate Edgefield was led by Tyrek Williams who went 2 for 2 with one walk and scored 3 runs. Edgefield also got hits from Jarred Bass, Britt Gossett, Peyton Smith and Jordyn Hill. Scoring runs for Edgefield were Rod Martin, Peyton Smith, Jarred Bass, Britt Gossett, and Jordyn Hill. On the defensive side of the ball, Edgefield was led by Shortstop Britt Gossett. The Ridge Spring Tournament continues Tuesday night when Edgefield meets Saluda in a match to determine seeding for the District Tournament. Game time is set for 7:00 PM. Please come out and support the team men as they represent Edgefield during this tournament season.
