PDA Golf Classic a Huge Success

web posted September 18, 2009
RIDGE SPRING – The Palmetto Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center held its fourth annual golf classic on September 12. Tee off for the four man teams was at 10am and the weather could not have been more perfect. For the third year in a row the winning trophies went to the team of Mark Rosier, Jeremy Scoggins, Rhett Parkman, Jeremy Courtney. The team won a cash prize and bragging rights for another whole year.

Second place went to John Orvia, H.T. Wall, Tim Jamison, Shane Perry and third place went to the team of Mike Rodgers, Andy Rodgers, Chase Harley, and Matt Sturkie.  Winners of the closest to the pin contests were Michael Myers and Terry Timmerman.

The tournament is held each year to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation as well as student scholarships and funds to support the studio’s master guest artist program which brings in dance artists from around the nation to teach workshops in house.

For their efforts in support of the tournament the following students won class and convention scholarships and discounts: KariLeigh Miller was the winner of a full class scholarship, Ashleigh Storey won a Tremaine Dance convention scholarship, and Alaina Horne, Logan Timmerman, and Alaina Timmerman won class discounts for a year.

Jordyn Rodgers also won a cash prize for registering the most teams for the tournament.  The students and staff would like to thank all the area businesses and individuals who make this a success every year.  For a complete list of donors community members may visit the studio’s website at http://www.palmettodanceacademy.com
