Two Saluda County Teens Killed in Head on Collision

RIDGE SPRING – Two teenage brothers have died following a head on collision in Ridge Spring Wednesday evening. 13-year-old Daniel Allen Dunn and 18-year-old Travis Dunn died after the car they were traveling in crossed the center line and struck a mini-van head on around 8 pm on the Saluda Highway.

Daniel Dunn was pronounced dead on the scene. His brother, Travis Dunn, died later at a Greenwood County hospital as a result of his injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol in investigating the fatalities.

The Aiken County School District issued a press release asking area media not to contact the school or staff for interviews due to the loss to the brothers.

A partial copy of the release is as follows:

"At approximately 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, two Aiken County students (a high school senior and a middle school student) from Ridge Spring were involved in a car accident on Highway 39 between Ridge Spring and Saluda. The middle school student was killed instantly and the high school student was transported to a hospital in Greenwood…"

Dr. Sal Minolfo, special programs director, has arranged counselor support for both schools. Counselors from the District have a location at the schools to meet with students.
