Dancers to Perform as a Benefit to Children
web
posted December 9, 2008
BATESBURG – On Saturday, December 13th the
dancers of Palmetto Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center will present
“Need a Little Christmas” at the Batesburg Leesville Fine Arts
Center beginning at 1pm. The show marks the seventh year the dancers
have taken to the stage to collect toys for needy children in the area.
To date over 4000 toys have been collected and distributed to children
of families stricken by hard times close to the holiday season.
This year the performance is even more critical than years past due to
the recent economical concerns. Attendance to the show is free
with the donation of an unwrapped child’s toy.
The show features varying dance genres including jazz, tap, clog,
ballet, cheer and pointe. The award winning dancers of Palmetto
Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center range in age from 3 years to young
adults and are well-known for their high quality shows that are a
no-miss during the holiday season.
The public is asked to come and enjoy the sensational show while
spreading joy to others in need. As a participating audience
member, the public can take part in the studios year-long “Be the
Change” mission where the students are promoting volunteerism and
reaching out to those in need. So far the mission has collected food
for the Saluda area food bank, raised over $400 for the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation, collected hundreds of aluminum cans to
help purchase school supplies for needy children, and supported the
Ronald McDonald House charities with pop tab donations.
This concert has a goal of collecting over 500 toys for children in
need. Audience members can help reach this goal and then return
to Saluda to support the annual Christmas parade and tree lighting.
Admission is free with the donation of a child’s toy to be donated to
area children in need.
