Edgefield County Junior Scholars Recognized

MERRIWETHER – The Edgefield County School District held a Junior Scholar Recognition Program at Merriwether Middle School on January 22. A total of twenty-six eighth grade students from Merriwether Middle School and Johnston-Edgefield-Trenton Middle School were honored for their scores on the P-SAT tests, which most students take in High School.
   
Miss Qunteelah Lanham, an eighth grade student from Merriwether Middle School welcomed guests. Mr. Reed Covar, a 7th grade student from JET Middle gave a literary presentation.  Dr. Sharon W. Keesley, Superintendent spoke of the outstanding accomplishment that these students received by qualifying as Junior Scholars. She made note that this honor bestowed clearly indicates the seriousness that these students take to their academics.
   
Dr. Frank Roberson commended the Junior Scholars for their outstanding academic performance and assisted Dr. Keesley with the presentation of certificates to the students.
   
Those recognized were: From JET Middle-Lydia Dorn, Alexis Fay, Nicholas Hutcherson, Paloma Luna and Zachary Burns. From Merriweather Middle-Peyton Baynham, Malcom Cook, Stephanie Fletcher, Kelsi Henderson, Chastity Houston, Ashton Moody, Tyler Palmer, Kayla Chitty, Brice Duckworth, Miguel Garcia, Jessica Horton, Kyle Macklin, Kristen Moore, Taylor Roach, Jessica Rohr, Clifton Sherrill, Jani Smith, Sarah Willard, Porsha Settles, AAlisha Simpson and Kristen Turner.
