School District holds Employee Appreciation Banquet

JOHNSTON – The
Edgefield County School
District held their 2007-2008 Employee Appreciation Banquet on Thursday
evening with fifteen employees being recognized for 20 years of
Service.
Superintendent Dr. Mary R. Crenshaw acknowledged the service that the
educators have given to the molding of local students into successful
adults.
Educators who have reached the 20 year mark of service are: Jacqueline
Kennion-Douglas Elementary; Barbara Jay-Johnston Elementary; Holly
Mims, Lisa Reeves, and Judy Dorn from Merriwether Elementary; Ava
Burdell, Laura Jolly, Dana Kaltz and Amy Wilhelm from W. E. Parker
Elementary; Teresa Goff, Cynthia Lee, Marsha Sowell, Maxine Dukes and
Sara Green from JET Middle School and Catherine Pardue from the
District Office.
Following a Retiree
PowerPoint picture presentation, Dr .Crenshaw gave
the sixteen retiring employees one last task to complete. She asked
each retiree to close their eyes and think of that one person that had
a lasting impression and influenced on them when they were in
school. After a pause, she brought the honorees back to the
present letting each one know that that they are now, those very people
that are remembered by so many young adult as being a “very special
person that has impacted their lives”.
The retiring educators recognized were: Mrs. Esther Elkins – 11 years –
Douglas Elementary and Merriwether Middle School; Mrs. Lynda Hall – 30
years, Ms. Linda Ingebretsen - 21 years, Mrs. Elizabeth Long – 27
years and Mrs. Joan Rhoden – 33 years, all from Johnston Elementary.
From Merriwether Elementary Mrs. Charlotte Munns – 28 years. Mrs.
Virginia Culbertson – 36 years, Mrs. Sheila Huiet – 30 years; and Mrs.
Darlene Rushton – 29 years from JET Middle School. From Strom Thurmond
High School: Mr. George Elkins – 9 years; Mrs. Charlene Williamson – 36
years and Mr. Donald Woolsey – 32 years. From Strom Thurmond Career
Center: Mrs. Patricia Bryan – 25 years and Mr. Press Elam – 11 years.
Mrs. Gayle Dorn – 28 years and Mrs. Janet Whitlock – 11 years from the
District Office.
Members of the Edgefield County Board of Trustees presented each
honoree with an award.
