Guns stolen from home, vehicles

web posted January 23, 2008
COUNTY – At least three guns have been stolen recently with two of them stolen from automobiles. The most recent theft occurred last Friday when a County Line resident reported the theft of a 20-gauge shotgun from his truck on the 1500 block of Highway 25 south. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts, two of which involve handguns.

The owner of the shotgun could not provide authorities with a make, model, or serial number for the weapon.

A Bantam Lane resident reported someone entering his truck and taking a chrome plated High Point .380 caliber semi automatic pistol and a fully loaded eight round clip. The man told the investigator that only he and his wife knew the gun was located in the truck. The serial number for the gun was listed as P707188. The gun has a black handle, reports state.

Another handgun, a gray Smith and Wesson .45 caliber model 4506, was missing from a Cheves Creek Road home. The serial number to that weapon was listed as VJD0724. Police reports indicated four possible suspects in the theft, which also included a missing necklace valued at $200.

All cases are currently being investigated by the Sheriff’s Investigative Division.
