Drug dealer arrested during recent SWAT raid given nine years web posted February 21, 2007 EDGEFIELD
– A Johnston man taken into custody on February 2 after a
SWAT raid on his home has been sentenced in General Sessions Court to
nine years in prison. Cedric Sebastian Washington, 25, of McQueen
Street, Johnston, plead guilty to one of the eight drug charges against
him. The other seven charges were dismissed.Mr. Washington was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and subsequent warrants from the raid including distribution of crack cocaine, manufacturer / distribution with intent to distribute within the proximity of a school or park and other distribution charges. Washington plead to one count of distribution of crack cocaine and received “nine years concurrent with all other sentence; credit for time served,” court documents stated. Some of the charges against Mr. Washington date back to July 5, 2006 and were followed by additional charges filed on February 7, 2007 after the arrest. At the time of the arrest Chief Aston said his department and Sheriff’s Narcotics Investigators have been working on several cases and Washington’s arrest marked the most recent at the time in over a half a dozen that took place over the previous weeks. “It takes time to make these types of cases,” Chief Aston said at the time adding that he applauds the hard work of the Sheriff’s Office and the narcotics investigators that help his department in investigating and conducting the raids. “They work very hard and I can’t thank them enough,” he said. The one-day session of General Sessions Court was held Thursday, February 15. For
