Webber to be charged in at least two more burglaries, investigation continues

web posted June 6, 2009
EDGEFIELD – Robert Webber, 35, is still being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center on charges of burglary in the second degree and grand larceny from his arrest on Wednesday. According to jail officials no bond has been set as of Friday. The investigation continues to expand with Investigator Phil Ireland saying Friday that they have tied Webber to at least two other burglaries. “We’re going to be filing for the warrants,” Inv. Ireland said adding that it could be as late as Monday before the formal charges are filed.

The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing details of the ongoing investigation and Inv. Ireland had to get clearance to release a statement on the pending charges. Sheriff Adell Dobey said he thanked the media for understanding the delicate nature of an investigation such as this and for being patient in receiving additional details. “We have to be very careful about what we release during an investigation,” Sheriff Dobey said.

He again stated that he would have a press release available earlier next week.

When the arrest warrants on the pending charges are filed the location of the homes burglarized will be identified.
