Two local men charged in auto theft

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted June 7, 2005

The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two Edgefield County men and charged them with grand larceny in connection to a stolen vehicle. “The two were found by Richmond Deputies trying to take the (custom) rims off the car behind Regency Mall,” Investigator Randy Doran said.

The two had stolen the car from an Edgefield County resident and apparently decided to remove the rims after the car became disabled. “The rims were worth more than the car,” Investigator Doran said. The first arrested by Edgefield County authorities was Tonio Lyndell Collins, 17, who was taken into custody on May 26, 2005. The second man, 19 year old Deangelo Tijuan Rouse, was in the custody of Richmond County authorities and was handed over to Edgefield County deputies on June 1. “We had to wait for them to finish processing him before we could pick him up,” Doran said.

Grand larceny is a felony charge and if found guilty the two could face fines, “at the discretion of the court,” and up to five years in prison according to the South Carolina Code of Laws.
