Aiken man charged with furnishing contraband to prisoners at Edgefield Detention Center web posted June 20, 2007 EDGEFIELD – An Aiken man has been charged by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office for furnishing contraband to an inmate at the Edgefield County Detention Center on June 14. Alonzo Rashad Ingram, 27, of Lawrence Street, Aiken, was taken into custody late Thursday afternoon on a custody order until a warrant could be secured on Friday. Mr. Ingram was held through Friday when formal charges were presented and was released Friday afternoon on bond. The amount of bond was not available. According to incident reports Mr. Ingram entered the Detention Center for a visit and then placed two packs of Newport cigarettes in a trashcan of the facility so that an inmate could pick them up. Reports indicate the scene was captured on the video surveillance cameras at the facility and Mr. Ingram admitted to leaving the cigarettes. No court date was provided in the case. For
