Update on condition of deputy injured in crash
web
posted July 2, 2009
AUGUSTA – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Deputy injured in a fiery crash
Wednesday afternoon was said to be in
good condition when he arrived at the MCG Hospital in Augusta Ga. where
he was taken
after the crash.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was still undergoing
x-rays and CAT scans to determine the extent of his injures at 7 pm.
Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Wash, who was standing by at the hospital
Wednesday evening said, “He’s doing good.”
A report from the Sheriff’s Office early Thursday morning at 2:35 am
confirmed the
deputy was released from the hospital and returned home. The report
stated he
did not suffer any broken bones and was said to be recovering at home
but was still in a lot of pain.
There are still conflicting reports as to whether or not the deputy was
ejected from the patrol car at the time of the crash. The earliest
reports from the scene stated there was an ejection. Others say he
exited the car on his own power. More information will be available
after officials have an opportunity to interview the deputy about the
crash.
His identity, though known, is being withheld until released by the
Sheriff’s Office. The crash is currently under investigation by the
South Carolina Highway Patrol.
EdgefieldDaily.com wishes to extend our thoughts and prayers for the
injured deputy and hope for his speedy recovery.
