Merriwether woman charged in
burglary Edgefielddaily.com web posted July 12, 2005 MERRIWETHER - A burglary on the 600 block of Springhaven Dr in Merriwether last week was solved when the husband of the woman accused of the crime turned over the stolen items to the homeowner and subsequently police. Altogether it was about $10,000 in goods ranging from jewelry, appliances, and a video camera, “We got back about 90% of the stuff,” the Sheriff’s Department said. The husband, who is not being charged in the matter, came home to discover the stolen goods and confronted the wife. It was then he returned some of the items to the homeowner and the Sheriff’s Department was called. It turns out one of the items stolen, a video camera, got the attention of the woman’s young son who began to play with it while his mother and a friend were talking. The son activated the camera and taped the mother telling the other woman what she had done we have learned. To what extent that conversation went into the crime is not being revealed and the investigation is ongoing. Sabrina Maria Parker, 33, of the 600 Block of Springhaven Dr. in Merriwether was arrested on charges of burglary and grand larceny Sunday, July 10, 2005, and booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center where she awaits a bond hearing. Police say this is not the first time Mrs. Parker has caught the attention of neighbors, “we looked up one day and she was walking down the street naked,” said an unnamed neighbor. Another said he was working on his property and discovered many tools missing from a work shed. While there he heard someone coming and crouched down and it was Parker, who, when she saw his truck turned around and walked back home he said. Officials said he reported the incident and the missing items to the Sheriff's Department. Other residents also reported minor break-ins to Edgefield Daily.com but said they had not called police because they felt there was little that could have been done and the missing items were basically insignificant. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone who has been a victim of a crime to report it to authorities no matter how small. The information Edgefield Daily.com discovered was also passed on to investigators. Sheriff Adell Dobey’s platform is proactive law enforcement and that begins with the citizens of the county forwarding information to his office he has told Edgefield Daily.com in the past.
