Sheriff’s Office liability loss one of the
lowest in state Edgefielddaily.com web posted July 13, 2005 EDGEFIELD - The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release yesterday showing that under the direction of Sheriff Adell Dobey the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office has one of lowest liability loss rates in the state. The period covered a review of liability losses, injury, and litigation rates from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2005 by the South Carolina Counties & Liability Trust Association. The release states, “Since taking office Sheriff Dobey has worked hard to obtain this goal” and stated some of the steps taken to achieve were: “Encouraging employees to maintain good physical fitness. Implementing specific policies and procedures to address (liability) concerns. Basic and Advanced training classes. Installing deer guards on 90% of vehicles used for patrol duties.” Sheriff Dobey said, “Upon taking office one of the issues that I wanted to address was the Sheriff’s Office liability rate. I feel like it is my duty as Sheriff to provide the taxpayers the maximum amount of service for the minimum amount of cost. I would also like to thank the Sheriff’s Office employees for their hard work in making this possible.” Robert Benfield, Risk Manager for the South Carolina Association of Counties, said in a letter provided with the release that the Sheriff should be, “very proud of the job you and your staff has done in preventing losses and litigation,” saying Sheriff Dobey’s Administration was, “one of the lowest” among all in South Carolina. Edgefield Daily.com would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Sheriff Adell Dobey for his accomplishment as well as the fine men and women who don the uniform to protect and serve our county. Obviously doing so in a far more professional and astute manner than most in the state. Congratulations. Return to Main Page
