Narcotics Investigators continue to make arrests web posted July 27, 2006 EDGEFIELD – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office continues to fight the ever growing problem of drugs in Edgefield County. Narcotics Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office made a portion of the undercover work pay off Friday when Narcotics Investigators and SLED took one individual wanted into custody. Bryan Jordan Phillips, 17, of Ouzts Street, Johnston, was taken into custody after being found on Georgia Road in the Westside area Friday. Mr. Phillips has been charged with two counts of manufacturing, distribution, possession of crack cocaine and two counts of distribution of crack cocaine within the proximity of a school or park. He is presently being held in the Edgefield County Detention since his July 21 arrest for the outstanding warrants. The warrants stem from more than two months of undercover operations by the Narcotics Division of the Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, surveillance and controlled buys were used to obtain the warrants for Mr. Phillips arrest. Narcotics Investigators said there were several ongoing investigations currently underway. Just two days prior to Mr. Phillips arrest, Robert Burroughs, 29, was also arrested on charges of manufacturing or possession of schedule l, ll, lll drugs with the intent to distribute. He is also currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center. Investigators did not relate the two arrests to a single undercover operation. Sheriff Dobey and other ranking officials in the Sheriff’s Office were in Greenville and were unavailable for comment. In several previous interviews on such arrests, Sheriff Dobey has stated his office will continue to provide proactive law enforcement and bring those who distribute drugs in Edgefield County to justice.
