More arrests in car thefts, second vehicle
recovered since Saturday Edgefielddaily.com web posted August 4, 2005 SWEETWATER – The arrest of Andre Henry Poitra, 26 of Augusta, has led to another arrest and the recovery of another vehicle stolen from the Macedonia area last week. James Miller reported a 1995 GMC truck stolen around 8 am on July 27, 2005 from a 90 block address of Weller Road, just off Macedonia Road. The location is used by Pioneer Clearing for storage of equipment. That vehicle, it turns out, was also stolen by Mr. Poitra and Daniel Christopher Hill, of the 1700 block of Tobacco Road in Augusta, police say. The latest truck was found in the woods off Carrie Road. Coincidentally the land the truck was found hidden on belongs to the owner of the stolen truck, Mr. James Miller. Mr. Hill has been charged with Grand Larceny of a vehicle. Investigator Randy Doran said Mr. Hill and Mr. Poitra will both be charged in the theft of the Pioneer Clearing vehicle. So far evidence leads to Mr. Hill in the theft of the truck Mr. Poitra was arrested of being in possession of on August 1. Additional charges could come later. The arrest of the two suspected car thieves all stem from a tip of a suspicious vehicle from a neighbor on Macedonia Road Saturday night. Return to Main Page
