Sheriff’s Investigators make arrest in recent burglary
web
posted August 18, 2009
EDGEFIELD –
Sheriff’s Investigators have
made an arrest in a recent burglary case and additional charges could
be pending, Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Monday
afternoon. Dexter Williams, 22, of Edgewood Road in Edgefield was
arrested not far from his home around 2:30 pm and transported to the
Edgefield County Detention Center for booking on a charge of burglary
in the 2nd degree.
Inv. Doran said Williams is accused of a
July 23 burglary of a home on
the 100 block of Crest Road, the second time the home had been
burglarized. The first time was on May 28.
Evidence collected in the
most recent case led to William’s being identified as the burglar and a
warrant for his arrest was issued last week.
“He (Williams) is cooperating with us right now,” Inv. Doran said.
“More charges could be pending.” At this time investigators are not
confirming a connection to the previous burglary at the home.
Williams is awaiting a bond hearing.
There have been at least four burglaries in the area since May, the
most recent on the 100 block of Edgewood Drive on Thursday when the
homeowner arrived around 8:45 in the morning and found a door “kicked
in” and a window broken. An undisclosed amount of property was taken in
the burglary.
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Forensic Investigator processed the
scenes for evidence in all of the cases. Inv. Doran stated the
investigations are ongoing and more information would be available in
the near future.
