 Sheriff Dobey warns of telemarketing scam web posted August 30, 2006 COUNTY – Edgefield County Sheriff Adell Dobey wants the citizens of Edgefield County to know that there is a telemarketing scam using the name of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association. Typically the caller identifies themselves as calling on behalf of the Sheriff’s Association and makes a request for a financial donation. Sheriff Adell Dobey, a member of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association, wants citizens to know that the association has never and does not raise funds through the telephone solicitations. If you receive a call from anyone asking for a donation in the name of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Assocation, you should hang up and call Mr. Ed Brown with the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office at 803-734-1797 to report the call.
