Police seek missing 17-year-old
web
posted September 3, 2008
JOHNSTON – Edgefield
County Sheriff’s
Investigators were continuing the search for a Johnston teenage girl
that disappeared Monday evening after calling her father to say she was
being followed by a black car that was making her nervous. As the
teenage girl approached Trenton, two large hills disconnected the cell
phone call and the father was never able to restore the connection.
17-year-old Latasha Lynn Hilliard has not been seen since. Tuesday
morning a Saluda County helicopter was searching the area trying to
locate the red 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving without success.
Miss Hilliard is described as a white female, 5’ 3” tall weighing
approximately 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last
known to be wearing white shorts, and orange and white stripped shirt,
and silver sandals.
According to incident reports, the young woman also sent a text message
to her boyfriend that she was being followed and he sent a message back
stating for her to lock her doors and “don’t stop for anything” around
shortly after she left his home around 6:30 pm.
Edgefield County Investigator Phil Ireland, who is in charge of the
investigation, said they were currently following leads but the
investigation is ongoing and could not comment further.
The car said to be following the Jeep Cherokee was described as a black
Chevy Camaro or a similar vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office at 803-637-5337 or 803-278-1625. You can remain anonymous.
