Drug
busts results in fourteen arrests and seizure of cash and drugs
web
posted September 12, 2007
EDGEFIELD – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office issued a press release on Tuesday on the drug sweep that took
place on September 6 in the Johnston area. In addition to fourteen
arrests in the sweep, officers seized approximately $1,500 in cash and
“a substantial quantity of what is believed to be marijuana and
cocaine.”
The drug sweep came on the heels of a multi-agency six-month long
narcotics investigation that included the Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office, Johnston and Edgefield Police Departments, Aiken County
Sheriff’s Office, North Augusta Public Safety, South Carolina Highway
Patrol, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol
Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
In addition to the arrests and seizures police also recovered a stolen
vehicle from the state of New York.
The drug sweep consisted of the service of several outstanding arrest
warrants and two search warrants. The investigation is still underway
and additional arrests are expected.
Sheriff’s Dobey stated, “By sharing information and resources, law
enforcement agencies are better (equipped) to fight the war on illegal
drugs. I would like to thank all of the agencies that participated in
this investigation and encourage all of our citizens to stay involved
in helping to keep drugs out of our county.”
