More charges filed on runaway teens

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted September 29, 2005

EDGEFIELD – Additional charges have been filed in the recent incident involving two local teenage runaways. The two teens, a male age 14 and a female age 15, ran away two days before they were found on September 23rd with Justin Brock, 29, at a home on Gardner Road just off Macedonia Road. According to booking records Mr. Brock has been arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal sexual conduct with a minor, which is a felony. Another arrest was said to be coming today in connection to the case.

Investigator Robin Newton said a Jeremy Miller, of the 100 block of Macedonia Road, faces charges of contributing the delinquency of a minor and giving false information to police. He is expected to turn himself in sometime today.

The charges against Mr. Miller stem from the investigation revealing he knew the location of the two teens and withheld that information, and gave false information when asked about the teens. “If he had just told us the truth from the beginning,” Investigator Newton said, “there would have been no charges.”

Edgefield Daily.com had previously reported the home where the teens were found belonged to Mr. Brock. It turned out that was not the case and was a misunderstanding as to where Mr. Brock actually lived. The report of the location of the home was accurate. The home was owned by another individual and the teens were just “hiding out” in it and being assisted by Mr. Brock and Mr. Miller.
