Car thieves get five years, must pay
restitution Edgefielddaily.com web posted October 18, 2005 EDGEFIELD – Tow Augusta men were sentenced to five years in prison for car thefts in Edgefield County this week. Andre Henry Poitra and Daniel Christopher Hill were charged in the thefts of at least two vehicles in early August. The break in the case came when a stolen vehicle from Macedonia Road was seen sitting near a house and neighbors calls the Sheriff’s Department. When Officers arrived they found Mr. Poitra in the stolen Blazer along with a 9 mm pistol. He was taken into custody at that time. Just two days later a second vehicle was located off Carrie Road which led to the arrest of Mr. Hill. Under the plea agreement the men will serve their at least half of the five years and once released will have to pay restitution of over $21,000 jointly as well as individual restitution for the crimes.
