Stolen car recovered

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 22, 2005

SWEETWATER – A Sweetwater woman reported her car stolen Thursday morning. According to police reports the woman said her boyfriend left in the car on Monday and had not returned. On Tuesday she spotted him at Ridge Road and Highway 25 and tried to flag him down to no avail. On Thursday morning she said the boyfriend came to her house with his niece expecting her to be at work and when she tried to call 9-1-1 he snatched the phone out of her hand and left with the car yet again.

Deputy George Dedmondt put a BOLO (be on the lookout for) on the car and entered it into the NCIC registry for wanted and stolen items. Later North Augusta Officers spotted the car and found one Ali Wahud Bilal, 30, of the 200 block of Sandy Hills Court driving. Though the woman refused to press charges Mr. Bilal had an outstanding warrant for check forgery and was arrested and booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center.

The 1990 Buick was returned to the owner.
