Sex offender pleads to second crime; given 18 months

EDGEFIELD – Convicted sex offender David Strom Jr., 28, of the 300 block of Burt Street in Edgefield faced charges stemming from an August 27, 2005 Peeping Tom arrest in the 500 block area of Pine Ridge Road. Strom, a registered sex offender was caught peering into a window of the home of a woman home alone. She contacted 9-1-1 and Mr. Strom was arrested a short time later. He faced those charges in General Sessions Court this week and plead guilty to the charges.

Mr. Strom was sentenced to three years suspended in lieu of eighteen months confinement which will be followed by three years probation. Mr. Strom, who is already required to register as a sex offender, faced his second conviction. His first conviction was a criminal sexual conduct charge involving a minor.

A third conviction would be a mandatory life sentence sources stated. In contrast, Tommy Adams, 50, of Merriwether was given 45 years for a first offense.
