Merriwether business burglarized

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 25, 2005

MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether business was burglarized over the weekend with the burglar or burglars making off with more than $10,000 in assorted goods. Carolina Auto Sales, located on the 800 block of Five Notch Road, was discovered to have been broken into over the weekend when the owner returned from being out of town.

The owner left to go out of town on Thursday and his wife followed on Friday. The couple returned on Sunday and discovered the one of the buildings had been pried open and items taken as well as a floor safe being broken into on Monday morning. The top to the safe had been pried off and the contents removed which included an undisclosed amount of cash and cashiers checks.

Chief Investigator Randy Doran said the Sheriff’s Office took fingerprints and they were in the process of eliminating the owners prints to determine what other prints were found. The investigation is ongoing.

Once found the burglar(s) will face charges of burglary in the second degree and grand larceny, greater than $10,000 Investigator Doran said.
