On the beat; From larceny to burglary

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 26, 2005

JOHNSTON – It seems someone was more concerned with bringing home the bacon, in a more figurative sense, which led to a larceny in Johnston. A Johnston woman called the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to report that someone had entered her home and stolen $10.00 in dimes and five packs of bacon.

The McCreight Road woman told Deputy Shirley Key that this was not the first time she had filed a report of such instances. The woman’s house was placed on the Patrol Log to be checked on a regular basis.

MERRIWETHER – A Dupriest Circle man called to report his $800.00 bicycle stolen. Deputy Curtis Morris responded to the call and found that a silver Giant Iguana bike was missing. The man suggested that a neighbor’s grandchildren had taken the bike. The bike was not located and legal remedies were provided to the man.

TRENTON – On the “A little late” line a woman stated she had not been to her storage building in three months, even after being contacted about a break in at the facility. The woman reported that a 55” GE Widescreen TV was missing. She stated the value of the TV to be $500. She was instructed to contact Chief Investigator Randy Doran, the investigator to the burglary.

And speaking of burglary, MURHY VILLAGE – A Miller Street woman called the Sheriff’s Office at 4:13 am to report a man in her house. Deputy Trek Bryant responded to the call as did Sgt. Morris and Investigator Doran. The woman’s daughter stated she entered her kitchen around 4:00 am and spotted a white male with a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a dark baseball cap entering the home.

Deputies combed the area and were unable to locate the individual. The crime was reported as a 1st degree burglary. Nothing was known to be taken from the home.
