What is known is an Edgefield County man is in custody and remains behind bars in the reported attack. Marvin Martin, 32, remains in jail in connection to the case and is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct records show. The alleged attack took place this past Friday when Mr. Martin was able to get the victim into his vehicle somewhere on Long Cane Road. The location of the attack has not been released and official reports were not available. After the attack was said to have taken place the woman reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office and was then taken to the hospital where she was treated for injuries received during the event. Evidence was also reportedly collected by medical personnel and police. The woman will not be named to protect her identity. She is said to be recovering from her injuries. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office were able to identify Mr. Martin as the assailant and took him into custody within twenty-four hours. The Sheriff’s Office has not commented on the case, however, one source said evidence collected in the case against Mr. Martin was “solid”.
