Sheriff's Office Deputies volunteer to
scare residents to benefit the American Cancer Society Edgefielddaily.com web posted October 28, 2005 EDGEFIELD – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, who is usually there to calm your fears when you are afraid, is jumping to the other side of the fence for Halloween and a cure for cancer. Friday and Saturday night the Sheriff’s Office is putting on a Haunted walk and Scream for a Cure at the Edgefield American Legion Hut on Penn Street. The admission will be $3.00 and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Edgefield Deputies Lt. Jagger and Hall arrived early with others on Thursday to begin changing the American Legion Hut from a peaceful place into a hut of fear in hope of scaring county residents rather than making them feel safe from fear. Lt. Jagger said the Sheriff’s Office had to postpone the scheduled Haunted Walk planned for the Heritage Jubilee when weather conditions prevented them from being able to change locations in time. “We wanted to find somewhere that we could put it on and give as much as possible to the Cancer Society,” Lt. Jagger said. The Haunted House will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00 pm each night until the last resident is served, or scared as the case may be. EdgefieldDaily.com encourages everyone to support the Sheriff’s Office and the American Cancer Society.
