SWAT
Team makes drug raid in Johnston
web posted November 17, 2005 JOHNSTON – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team conducted a raid at the Budget Inn Motel on Lee Street last week which resulted in the arrest of two individuals on drug charges. Shortly before 11:00 pm the SWAT Team, along with officers from the Edgefield and Johnston Police Departments, executed a search warrant for the motel room and found marijuana and crack cocaine. The two occupants of the room on Monday (Nov 7), Wade Valdaise Rouse, 24 of Edgefield, and Latisha Willamantha Surry, 22, of Edgefield, were arrested for a number of charges. Mr. Rouse was charged with resisting arrest, three counts of distribution of crack cocaine and three counts of distribution of crack cocaine within the proximity of a school or park. Records indicate this was a second offense for Mr. Rouse and he was also charged with possession of marijuana. Ms. Surry was charged with harboring a fugitive, simple possession of marijuana and possession of crack cocaine. Ms. Surry is still being held with a $5,500 surety bond. Mr. Rouse is also currently being held on $47,000 surety bond plus a $10,000 bond for a probation violation out of Spartanburg. No court date has been set at this time for Mr. Rouse or Ms. Surry according to the Sheriff's Office. For
