Story
leads to tips; Sheriff's Office seeks additional public support to
solve crime
web
posted November 21, 2007
COUNTY – After our story
on the theft of
four large stainless steel tanks from Trenton on Sunday, Edgefield
County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Randy Doran said they have received
information as a result and are seeking more of the public’s input in
trying to identify the person or persons responsible. A black “farm
type” flatbed truck, possibly an early 1980’s model, was spotted
carrying a tank matching the description of the one shown on Highway 25
Sunday afternoon around 1pm.
Inv. Doran said the driver was described as a black male and was
traveling south on Highway 25 at the beginning of the four lane section
of the highway. Inv. Doran said the investigation led to the belief
that the tanks were being taken one at a time rather than all at once.
“We’re hoping other people saw the truck and can give us more
information.”
Anyone that may have been traveling Highway 25 on Sunday and observed
any type truck carrying a tank matching the description is asked to
call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office with the information.
Generally different people will remember diverse details and combined
they can help solve the case.
The tanks were sixteen feet in height and eleven feet in diameter
weighing approximately 7,000 pounds each.
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 803-637-5337 or
803-278-1625. You do not need to reveal your identity to provide
information.
