Charges
pending for Sunday gunfight
web posted November 22, 2005 TRENTON – The Sunday evening shooting that had Edgefield County Deputies and EMS responding to several locations to find their victim has continued to develop more information and arrests are expected soon information from the Sheriff’s Office said. It appears the incident began over crack cocaine. With the investigation continuing names are being withheld as warrants were said to be issued soon for several of those involved, not just for the shooter. According to information gathered a dispute began over stolen crack cocaine somewhere on Fox Terrace Street. The victim and the shooter had agreed to meet at a location off Casalina Drive to settle the discrepancy. Once the victim arrived the guns were presented and shots were fired by at least two individuals, including the victim. After going to the Town and Country Store on Highway 25 and reloading more gunfire took place. The victim of the shooting then arrived a short time later at the new Greg’s Gas Plus at the corner of Highway 25 and Sweetwater Road and entered the store with a gun in his hand, “waving it around,” an employee at the store said. “He waved the gun around and asked if we sold guns or bullets,” the employee stated adding he drove around the parking lot before stopping by the vacuums. “When he pulled out of the parking space, he backed back in the space then circled and then parked and someone in the car got out and ran,” the employee said. Chief Investigator Randy Doran remained rather tight-lipped as the investigation was ongoing but did say he expected to make arrests in the case in the next day or two. Statements were still being taken by witnesses and the victim at this time. Lt. Chris Wash confirmed the Sheriff’s Office has recovered one of the weapons used in the crime. The shooter of the victim will be charged with at least Assault and Battery with the Intent to Kill, other charges are pending Investigator Doran said. For
