Four
charged in Sunday shooting
web posted November 30, 2005 EDGEFIELD – The suspects in the Sunday evening shootout on Highway 25 on November 20, 2005 that left one man shot in the head have been arrested and face various felony charges including South Carolina’s equivalent to attempted murder for two of the four men involved. Arrested were Melvin Joe Dobbs, 27, of North Augusta on charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and assault and battery during a violent crime; Antonio Michael Mathis, AKA T-Mack, 20, of Johnston; and Keneski Jerel Glanton, 20, of North Augusta, both face assault and battery with intent to kill and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime charges. The man who was shot in the head was treated and released from MCG in Augusta the night of the shooting for a gunshot wound that entered between the man’s eyes and exited just over his left eye and never entered his skull. He was identified as Joshua Lamar Smith, 19, of Trenton and is facing charges of unlawful possession of a pistol in the incident. All four were booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center over the last two days. Mr. Smith was released Tuesday afternoon on a $5,000 bond.
