Investigators seek help in Merriwether vandalisms, release photo of
suspect truck
web
posted December 11, 2007
MERRIWETHER – A rash
a vandalisms in the
Merriwether area has the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office seeking the
public’s help in identifying the possible culprits. Most of the
vandalism occurred in the Currytown and Murrah Road areas between
Thursday and Saturday of last week. Sheriff’s Investigator James Smith
said the cases appear to be related due to the time and scope of the
vandalism involved. The break in the cases came from video surveillance
cameras near one of the crime scenes.
Inv. Smith released a still photograph taken from a surveillance camera
showing the truck the vandals used during one of the reported
vandalisms. “It appears to be a white Ford extended cab pick-up with a
black bed cover,” Smith said. The recorded event took place at Old
McDonalds Fish Camp on Currytown Road at 1:58 am Thursday
morning.
Other reports in the area include vandals striking the Whispering Woods
subdivision and a home located on Currytown Road and a short distance
from the Old McDonald Fish Camp. Other reports of vandalism were
reported over the weekend in the nearby area.
Anyone with information as to the identity of the owner of the truck
pictured is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at
803-637-5337 or 803-278-1625. You do not need to reveal your identity
to provide information.
Inv. Smith said video taken during the Old McDonald Fish Camp showed
vehicles passing by during the time of the crime and it is hopeful one
of the unknowing witnesses would come forward. The two male suspects,
believed to be white, were parked in the parking lot of Superior
Drywall across from the Fish Camp around 1:58 am Thursday.
