Augusta Colts continue to build 2008 roster

web posted January 14, 2008
AUGUSTA – The Augusta Colts announce new players for the 2008 season. The Augusta Colts have added linebacker and defensive back Ralph Scott, defensive back and kick returner Larry Albert, linebacker Adolph Brown, linebacker and defensive back Jarmaur Stallings, linebacker Matt Tripp, and wide receiver and kick returner Rod Price to their 2008 roster. All six men were members of the 2007 WIFL World Champion Augusta Spartans.

A product of South Carolina State, Ralph Scott was one of the Spartans leading defensive players in 2007; with 39.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3 interceptions. Meanwhile, Larry Albert, who played for Stillman College, was responsible for 13 tackles while Adoph Brown, out of Kansas State, accounted for 3 interceptions and 2 fumble returns, totaling 34 yards & 1 TD.

Former Georgia Bulldog, Jarmaur Stallings is also back in Augusta having posted 1 fumble recovery and 2 tackles in very limited duty last season; while Matt Tripp proved his defensive skills by racking up 22.5 tackles, despite being sidelined for half a season due to injury. Rod Price, a product of San Diego State, will enter this season with 4 TDs and  3 kick returns for 171 all purpose yards in only 8 games.

The Augusta Colts will open their 2008 season at home in the James Brown Arena on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 7:30 PM versus the WIFL runner up Columbus Lions.
