 Two Rebels named SC 3-A All-State Team web posted February 25, 2008 JOHNSTON – Strom Thurmond High senior forward Leroy Gilchrist and junior guard Courtney Mealing were named to the South Carolina Coaches All-State AAA basketball team earlier this week. Gilchrist averaged just under 19 points a game and was among the team leaders in blocked shots and rebounds for a Rebel team that lost in the second round of the Class AAA State playoffs. Mealing was among the top point producers in the state with an average of over 28 points a game. She went over the 1,700 point mark in her career this past season that included five games of over 40 points. Mealing singularly scored 42 of the Lady Rebels' 43 points in their first round state playoff game loss. ©
