SPORTS –  The Lady Rebels of Strom Thurmond came up on the short end of a 7-1 softball road decision against Fox Creek Thursday. Both teams had trouble on defense with a combined 12 errors, but the Lady Predators were able to score runs off the Thurmond miscues. Strom Thurmond scored in the top of the first, but Fox Creek came right back with three in the bottom of the inning. Fox Creek added four insurance runs in the bottom of the second inning.
 
The Strom Thurmond guys came in second at a four-team track meet on Thursday.
Chapin won with 127 points to 104 for the second place Rebels. Airport was third with 25 while Ben Lippen finished with three points.

Marcellis Thompson was one of the multiple event victors for the Rebels winning the 110 meter high hurdles, 400 meter hurdles and 400m run. Strom Thurmond also picked up wins in the Discus, Shot Put, Long, Triple and High Jumps.

Strom Thurmond High came up short on both ends of a three-team track meet Tuesday afternoon. On the boys' side South Aiken won with 124 1/2 points to 51 1/2 for the Rebels. Williston-Elko went scoreless. The Lady Thoroughbreds won with 117 points to 56 for Strom Thurmond. Williston-Elko finished with four points.
 
Fox Creek's Cody Willing tied a state record by stealing nine bases in a single game Tuesday. The Predators downed North by a score of 18-4 to win their region opener and improve to 3-6 on the season. Willing had two hits, reached on an error twice and also drew a walk to get on base. Tuesday's total gives Willing 27 stolen bases on the season.
