STH Coach Sawyer to be given Shrine Bowl Jacket prior to South Aiken game By Tim Crane web posted September 14, 2010 SPORTS - The Shriners will present head coach Lee Sawyer his Shrine Bowl Blazer approximately 15 minutes before the kickoff of the Strom Thurmond - South Aiken game Friday night. Coach Sawyer will be coaching on South Carolina's Shrine Bowl team this December. The 1980 Upper State championship team will be recognized at halftime of the Thurmond-South Aiken game. Members of the team will meet in the cafeteria for a drop-in at 6:00 with Coach McAlister. David Satcher (803-480-0433) and Coach Handy McManus are the contacts for all former players that can make it. Please contact them if you were a part of the 1980 team as soon as possible to be included in the recognition. the Booster Club will be selling hamburgers, drinks and chips at 6:30 in the back parking lot.
