Cayce Announces Amateur Photography Contest
web
posted March 13, 2008
CAYCE – The City of Cayce is looking for a
few great photos, 12 in fact, of life in Cayce for its 2008-2009
citizens’ calendar. The photographs should feature locations in Cayce
or Cayce residents as its subject matter, but the contest is open to
amateur photographers from all over the state.
“We are looking for photos that demonstrate why Cayce is such a great
place to live,” said City Manager John Sharpe. “There are a lot of
positive things happening in our community and we want to capture that
excitement and display that pride in our upcoming citizens’ calendar.”
According to recent survey conducted by USC, Cayce residents feel very
good about their community and cite it being a “great place to raise a
family.” The City has a number of scenic locations, including the
Riverwalk along the Congaree River, several picturesque city parks, and
historic sites throughout the community. “With spring just around the
corner, it’s a great time to capture Cayce in bloom,” Sharpe added.
Photographs must be the original work of the applicant and feature
Cayce locations or people as its subject matter. Photos may be color
and should be submitted as an 8”x10” image with name of photo, name of
photographer, and completed registration and release forms, which are
located on the City of Cayce
web site. The deadline for entry is Thursday, May 1, 2008.
The grand prize winner will receive $100 cash prize and have his/her
photo featured on the calendar’s cover. An additional 11 photographs
will be selected for inclusion in the calendar, and those contestants
will receive Reflections of Cayce poster and a Cayce T-shirt. For more
information, contact Tammy Barkley at 796-9020 or
tbarkley@cityofcayce-sc.gov.
