Edgefield’s Sen. Shane Massey progresses to General election, Anderson
faces challenge from Johnson for Democrat nod
web
posted March 31, 2008
STATE – The race for the District 25 SC
Sate Senate Seat has come down to two Edgefield County candidates and
an unknown newcomer. Republican Senator Shane Massey took the seat
after a special election to fill the opening after veteran Democrat
Senator Tommy Moore resigned last year. Democrat State House
Representative Bill Clyburn conceded the special election after a short
contention and recount.
Sen. Massey's Democrat challenger, Greg Anderson, said Sunday night
that Democrat Travis Johnson has filed against him in the June Primary.
This will send Democrat voters to the polls in Edgefield, Aiken,
Saluda, and McCormick Counties to choose their candidate to face
incumbent
Sen. Shane Massey in November.
Mr. Anderson said he knew very little about Mr. Johnson and believed he
hailed from Aiken.
Senator Shane Massey, the first Republican to ever hold the Senate
District 25 seat said Sunday night that he was unaware of a candidate
filing on the Republican side of the ticket. “I'm sure that if anyone
had filed by now they (party officials) would have let me know.”
EdgefieldDaily.com will have more on those seeking the Democrat
nomination in upcoming reports.
