Gov. Sanford to Visit Aiken to Address Impact of State Budget web posted May 31, 2007 AIKEN – Gov. Mark Sanford and Senator Greg Ryberg will be in Aiken today to talk about the need for taxpayers to make their voices heard on the state budget. Negotiations on the budget between the House and Senate have begun on the budget that includes roughly $1.5 billion in new dollars to work with, above and beyond the $6.3 billion spent by the state last year. The governor and Senator Ryberg will be calling for more of those dollars to be returned to taxpayers, rather than being spent in Columbia. The governor and the senator will be at Fans, Fireplaces, Etc. located at 404 Richland Ave East, Aiken at 9:45 a.m. to talk about budget issues.
