Sen. Marco Rubio to Keynote US Rep. Jeff Duncan’s 4th Annual Faith and Freedom BBQ

web posted July 17, 2014

ANDERSON SC – South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan announced Wednesday that Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will be the keynote speaker at his annual Faith & Freedom BBQ held on August 25th at the Anderson Civic Center. Duncan, a two-term Congressman from Laurens is holding the event for the fourth year. Previous speakers have included Senators Jim DeMint, Tim Scott, Rand Paul, and former SCGOP Chairman Chad Connelly.

“I’m honored to have a solid conservative like Senator Rubio come to South Carolina to headline this event,” said Duncan. “Senator Rubio shares South Carolina’s values of limited government and individual liberty, and I’m looking forward to having him visit our state.”
Senator Marco Rubio served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008 and was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010. He currently serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation; Foreign Relations; Intelligence; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committees. He and his wife, Jeanette, have four young children and live in West Miami.
Last year’s event drew a crowd of just under 1,000 and attracted the attention of the national media. Duncan said this year’s the event will place an added emphasis on honoring veterans. “Without our veterans, we wouldn’t have any freedom to celebrate. We owe them everything, and it’s important for us to honor them both with our words and our actions.”

Tickets for the event go on sale starting today. The cost to attend is $25 a person, $40 a couple, with children under 12 eating for free. As part of the event’s emphasis on honoring members of the Armed Forces, veterans, active duty personnel, reservists, guardsmen, and their families will be able to attend the event free of charge.
