STH students caught with drugs at school web posted January 25, 2007 JOHNSTON – Two 16-year-old Strom Thurmond High School students were found in possession of marijuana at school on Tuesday afternoon. Strom Thurmond Principal Greg Thompson called the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to the school and the two boys were transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center where they were later released to their respective parents. The names of the boys are not being released due to their age. The first teen was discovered to have a “green leafy substance believed to be marijuana” in his pocket. The second boy was found to have a similar substance in his car. The evidence was collected and is being held in custody in both cases. The two have been removed from school pending a disciplinary hearing. The case has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office. A follow-up investigation is ongoing. For
