Entrepreneurship Class Enjoys Guest Speakers

web posted January 30, 2007

JOHNSTON – The Strom Thurmond Career Center entrepreneurship class enjoyed guest speaker Molly Lipka from the College of Charleston School of Business-SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) during a recent visit. Ms. Lipka discussed the SIFE Organization which is a global non-project organization represented in 2000 colleges and universities in more than 40 countries which promotes skills covered  in market economics, success skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business ethics.

Ms. Lipka also related how SIFE works with local businesses, Yes Carolina, and other education agencies to help students develop entrepreneurial skills, increase motivation to use their creativity, communication, and financial knowledge to help develop new and exciting small businesses. SIFE, along with business leaders and other agencies serve as mentors to help these students with the operational and financial aspects of the businesses. Mrs. Jean Vess is the instructor for the local career entrepreneurship class.
