STHS Students Attend Science Bowl Competition

web posted February 21, 2007

JOHNSTON – Strom Thurmond students competed in the 2007 Savannah River Regional Science Bowl Competition at USC – Aiken on February 10. The competition was a "round robin" format with four divisions. Questions for the students came from the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, astronomy and mathematics. The competition was fast and furious with students having only five seconds to answer the questions once they buzzed in.

Penny Morris, Science Instructor and Science Bowl Coach at STHS said she was very proud of the students. “They did a wonderful job to have not known what to expect with this being their first attempt at participating in the Science Bowl.  We will definitely be better prepared for next year’s competition.”

The team placed third in the Flimerman’s Division. Team members (pictured above) are Adrianna Luna, Megan Garland, Parker Northrop, Benny Padgett, and Andrew Garrison.
