Thurmond FFA Chapter Competes in Wildlife Career Development Event

web posted February 22, 2012

EDGEFIELD – Students of the Thurmond FFA Chapter spent their Saturday morning on the Central Carolina campus identifying wildlife. Students in the Wildlife Career Development Event, earn the opportunity to demonstrate their technical and management skills as it relates to wildlife, habitat, and harvesting regulations.

Students tested their knowledge through a written exam, identification stations, and completed a team activity as it relates to wildlife. This year, 30 teams competed for the title of State Champion. The Thurmond FFA chapter did not take top honors but did an outstanding job at the contest. Members of the team were: Diana Palma, Wyatt Walker, Emily Fletcher and Colton Kirkland. Their advisor is Darla Steele (back row left). A special thank you to Central Carolina for hosting and sponsoring the event.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 523,309 student members as part of 7,487 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
