Jhant Named South Carolina Miss FFA at Pageant

COUNTY – Sixty-two young ladies
from
throughout South Carolina competed in the South Carolina Miss FFA
Pageant held recently at Batesburg-Leesville High School in Batesburg,
SC. Allie Jhant, President of the Strom Thurmond Career Center FFA
Association, was crowned Miss South Carolina FFA for 2013. She was also
the recipient of a $500 college scholarship sponsored by Ag South Farm
Credit. Allie was joined by fellow Strom Thurmond FFA members Morgan
Spaulding and Rachel Farmer as finalist in the top ten.
All three young ladies along with the other fifty-nine contestants were
judged on their interview, introductions, evening gown, onstage
questions, their applications and their supervised agriculture
experience (SAE).
Jhant, a senior at Strom Thurmond High School, is a member of the Beta
Club, Millennium Club, as well the varsity Volleyball and Soccer Teams.
She will be attending Clemson University in the fall where she will be
majoring in Agricultural Education. An active member of the Strom
Thurmond FFA Association, she was a member of the 2012 South Carolina
State Winning FFA Forestry CDE Team and was the 2012 South Carolina FFA
Extemporaneous Public Speaking
Champion.
Allie is the daughter of Julianne and Philip Jhant and has one younger
brother Geddings Jhant, also a member of the Strom Thurmond FFA.
Rachel Farmer, 7th runner-up is the daughter of David & Dawn
Farmer. Morgan Spaulding, 8th runner-up is also a junior and she is the
daughter of Rick Spaulding and Deanne Spaulding. Their FFA advisors are
Darla Steele and Jeremy Brooks, Agricultural Education instructors at
Strom Thurmond Career Center.
