Jhant Named South Carolina Miss FFA at Pageant

web posted March 11, 2013

COUNTY – Sixty-two young ladies from throughout South Carolina competed in the South Carolina Miss FFA Pageant held recently at Batesburg-Leesville High School in Batesburg, SC. Allie Jhant, President of the Strom Thurmond Career Center FFA Association, was crowned Miss South Carolina FFA for 2013. She was also the recipient of a $500 college scholarship sponsored by Ag South Farm Credit. Allie was joined by fellow Strom Thurmond FFA members Morgan Spaulding and Rachel Farmer as finalist in the top ten.

All three young ladies along with the other fifty-nine contestants were judged on their interview, introductions, evening gown, onstage questions, their applications and their supervised agriculture experience (SAE).

Jhant, a senior at Strom Thurmond High School, is a member of the Beta Club, Millennium Club, as well the varsity Volleyball and Soccer Teams. She will be attending Clemson University in the fall where she will be majoring in Agricultural Education. An active member of the Strom Thurmond FFA Association, she was a member of the 2012 South Carolina State Winning FFA Forestry CDE Team and was the 2012 South Carolina FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Champion.

Allie is the daughter of Julianne and Philip Jhant and has one younger brother Geddings Jhant, also a member of the Strom Thurmond FFA.  Rachel Farmer, 7th runner-up is the daughter of David & Dawn Farmer. Morgan Spaulding, 8th runner-up is also a junior and she is the daughter of Rick Spaulding and Deanne Spaulding. Their FFA advisors are Darla Steele and Jeremy Brooks, Agricultural Education instructors at Strom Thurmond Career Center.
