Strom Thurmond students help in 2007 Special Olympics Spring Games

web posted April 30, 2007
JOHNSTON – The STCC HOSA Organization participated in the 2007 Special Olympics Spring Games held on April 27 at Midland Valley High School.  The local HOSA students were chaperons for the participating students from the Edgefield, Aiken and Saluda area.

A total of 30 teams were present for the event. The local HOSA student’s duties included making sure their student was at each game event on time, taking them to the arts and crafts area and to their lunch time.

Following the Parade of Athletes, Dr. Frank Roberson, ECSD Associate Superintendent for Instructional Services gave the Invocation, and Iris Spires, Director of Special Services for ECSD sang the Star Spangled Banner.

The Spring Games were enjoyed by all the students who participated and a special “Hats Off” to the local STCC HOSA Chapter for volunteering to assist.
