 STH NJROTC Performs at National School Drill web posted August 28, 2006 COUNTY – The Strom Thurmond High School NJROTC drill team competed in the 24th annual National High School Drill Team Championships this summer and was commended for their exceptional conduct on and off the drill floor. Justin Gates, NHSDTC Competition Director said, “The Strom Thurmond Team displayed discipline and good behavior. This reflected well on themselves, their school, their city and their school system.” He further stated, “Because of their talent and just as important their well-mannered behavior, the Strom Thurmond High School drill team will receive an invitation to apply for entry within the 2007 Nationals next year. The local team was exposed to over 160 quality school programs from over 30 states. The event was held at Daytona Beach, Florida and is world renowned with the 3,000 plus school JROTC community and crowns the all-service National Champions in military-style marching and drill competition.
