Edgefield County Young Farmers Association Elects New Executive Committee

JOHNSTON – Jesse Harris of Johnston was named the new president of the Edgefield County Young Farmers Association at their monthly meeting held in the agricultural education building at Strom Thurmond Career Center. 

Other officers elected to the executive committee were Michael Steele of Ridge Spring; vice president and Christopher Derrick of Johnston; secretary – treasurer. 

Darla Steele and Jeremy Brooks, agricultural education instructors at Strom Thurmond Career Center, serve as advisors to the Edgefield County Young Farmer Association which meets on a monthly basis.

The Edgefield Young Farmer Association is the primary component of continuing agricultural education for adults under the leadership of the local agricultural education program.  The Edgefield Association is also an affiliate of the South Carolina Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association which is among the outstanding programs in the nation and has one of the largest memberships in the National Young Farmer Organization.
